*long sigh*

[mild cw: food, illness]
A day I've been worrying would come has arrived:
Meta-Boss has given me a split shift.
He thinks because I live closest to the store that split shifts are easier on me than the others, and he *used* to be right, but that's not the only consideration anymore.
The logistics *these* days are a massive pain. I used to hang out at work for breaks of this length, but given the number of maskless strangers breathing and fucking *talking* in there over any given three-hour period, God knows what kind of shit is floating around in that air. I'm not comfortable taking my mask off in that store, which means no food or water while I'm in there. Nine and a half hours (counting decon) without water will put me a good litre and a half in debt, maybe two, and that sounds like something well worth avoiding. And some food would be nice too, especially given my small-but-frequent natural eating pattern (and thus the number of eating occasions I'd be skipping if I waited nine and a half waking hours).
I can't hang out outside, because it's late May and I *know* what kind of shit is floating around in *that* air, and I will *definitely* get sick if I breathe it.
For longer breaks I usually hang out in my living room, butI'm still ritually unclean decon takes almost an hour and that's definitely not feasible. Probably not even feasible for longer breaks, particularly given the laundry involved.
So the plan is that I will spend my break sitting in the back entryway of my house. Mom will leave me a plate of reheated leftovers (carefully chosen to not be finger food) and a large cup of water (not my usual bottle); I will leave myself a charging cable (my lifelogger probably can't handle a split's worth of continuous-mode recording on one charge; I usually don't touch it while unclean, but I *could* rub it down with a disinfectant wipe if it comes down to that) and a smartphone (much easier to wipe down than a laptop: I already did it often enough in the Before Times). Mom will come by after I've left and wipe down the doorknobs so she can get through to the back garden later.

Date: 2020-05-25 03:37 pm (UTC)The stuffy nose did *not* come back when the decongestant wore off and I've had no other symptoms, strongly suggestive of a non-pathogen cause. Mom thinks it's the several years of accumulated dust and dirt in the back entryway: we haven't spent much time in there lately, just passing through to the backyard and fetching things out of storage areas.
I guess next time I'll sit on the floor just inside the front door.
P.S. Maybe there's some kind of mold back there? I just remembered that I *did* spend a while in the back entryway in January, and I had no problem then.
