Some encouragement

For people out there struggling to keep track of whether their hands are dirty, or which things need to be disinfected:
It gets easier! I wasn't born with an is-this-clean brain module, but I worked at it and I stayed motivated and I *made* it a part of my nature.
Leaving sticky notes on your front door reminding you to wash your hands when you get inside, putting marks on your hands so you notice them when they start heading towards your face: these are like training wheels. Occasionally you get people with balance disabilities who can't ride two-wheeled vehicles at all, but for the most part you *can* get the hang of it. After a while, your brain just automatically crunches the data it has available and determines how contaminated it expects things to be, and presents that output to you like a sense.
Keep it up and your skill will improve. One day, you too will be able to go to the mall on Boxing Day and touch things with only your right hand, so that you can groom and eat with your left. One day, you too will be able to go thirty-four months between colds.
