[cw: Christmas]
We celebrate Christmas Eve (fancy Chinese restaurant) and Boxing Day (Mother-Daughter Mall Bonding Time), but not Christmas Day. The 25th feels a bit disconcerting, like a valley of normalcy in-between two special days. In many other households the holiday season reaches its peak today, but here it pauses.
We haven't actually had a chance to do Mother-Daughter Mall Bonding Time for three years: last year I was sick, and the year before we went to New York instead (for stocking up on the foods that are cheaper there). I'm looking forward to being able to do it again. The bad news is my favourite food-court restaurant apparently closed down at some point, but at least I got some warning. Maybe I'll try something new instead.
---
(This valley-of-normalcy feeling brought to you by economics schoolwork. Economics schoolwork: we've only been at this course for 3.5 weeks of official time (~5.5 weeks real time, because nobody had any intention of stopping me from reading ahead in the textbook before the course started), and somehow we're like 40% done.)
((I mean, I haven't reached any of the two assignments or two exams yet, so I'm sure that'll slow me down. But I'm still surprised. Well, nobody will mind if I do end up cramming the semester into 3 months: quite the opposite.))
