[cw: amnesia, Christmas, (fairly mild) death]

In this, a time of Christmas carols and fighting the good fight against information rot, I feel it is fitting to present you with this song:

(Edit 2020-11-12: WordPress-hosted backup version)

Singer: me.

Songwriter: orphaned work. I saw these lyrics circulating on Tumblr during Christmastime 2011. The user who reblogged them onto my dash deactivated a few months later, and my googling has not turned up any remaining copies. I sang this from memory: to the best of my knowledge, it exists nowhere else.

(and the first verse exists nowhere at all)

I hope you enjoy this little piece of fandom history. If anyone has any leads on who wrote these lyrics and/or what the first verse was, I'd be very glad to hear them.

Lyrics:

In their hands their faces hide
From the ever-looking eyes
No advantages but one:
Who can kill a piece of stone?

Look away just once and you
Will be dead before the noon
Faster than the eye can see
Angels of eternity

Hark, the Weeping Angels sing:
"We will conquer everything!"

That which holds an Angel's form
Joins the ever-coming swarm
In your screens and in your head
Do not blink, or you'll be dead

Who'd have thought they'd be your doom?
Statues in an empty room?
In their fear, the people call:
"Doctor, Doctor, save us all!"

Hark, the Weeping Angels sing:
"We will conquer everything!"
Hark, the Weeping Angels sing:
"We will conquer everything!"

Nice!
Both cool music, and a timely rescue of a neat bit of fandom history!
