Isn't "I would die for you, baby/but you won't do the same" one of the *best* possible outcomes here? Both of you agree on what should happen in a choice between your life and hers! If your desire to protect her even at the cost of your own life was *reciprocal*, you'd just end up with this shit.
(I just formatted that post today, which I think is why I got further along than usual in my reaction to the chorus of "Grenade". Usually I'm just like "as well she shouldn't, that's kind of fucked up tbh".)
