August air *was* safe to breathe...until now. Yesterday I had a mild sore throat, but at this point I'm starting to get inured to that and didn't think much of it. Today I saw pollen floating through the air, and drifts of it covered the ground like snow.
(Fortunately I've adopted a habit of keeping at least one mask (preferably two) in my bag at all times, so I was able to wear one on my way back from work despite not having planned to before I left home.)
