[Mobile Syrup; Wayback] (by Dean Daley) It's possible to get Android 12 to run on an 11-year-old smartphone! Technically. Mostly.

[cw: apocalypse] [AO3; Wayback] (by
Nestra) NPR during the zombie apocalypse. (This would probably be much funnier if I had any significant familiarity with NPR, but it's still funny without it.)

[WordPress (Tumblr)] (OP by marlonwebb of TikTok) We've come a long way since the days of plague-doctor masks.
[arguably cw: discourse] [Dreamwidth; Wayback] (OP by
mindstalk) Why we (mostly) didn't wear masks in the 2010s, and why we would still wear masks in the 2020s even if COVID magically disappeared. [two comments]
[Start of WordPress thread (Tumblr part 1; Tumblr part 2; Tumblr part 3)] (OP by
andmaybegayer) Tips on sealing non-elastomeric respirators, and more info on different types of elastomeric ones. [two comments]
(I did some more digging on HF-800s, and started getting suspicious when I noticed that *every single one* of the Youtube reviews I was turning up (demonstrating what the speech diaphragm sounds like) was Australian. And yeah, as it turns out, good fucking luck getting your hands on one in Canada.
I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe in a year or three the market will have developed enough that I can take another step further into the Glorious Transhumanist Future. In the meantime, I have gestures (always) and a clipboard (not at work) and people whose ears happen to be well-suited to hearing me through my current respirator (random), plus some KF94s for situations where I really desperately need to be able to talk to people (or for when I really desperately need to be able to pass for Ordinary Office Worker; I admit an HF-802 wouldn't help with *those* situations).
(As for the SoftSeal N95s, I couldn't find any third-party data on them, which makes me a bit nervous.))
