America: Secret ballots are an important part of a healthy democratic society!
Also America: Yeah our register of electors is a matter of public record by default, if you google someone's name we'll probably tell you their party affiliation and also their exact home address. If you didn't want to get stalked, well...you can opt-out of the current big third-party collator and *probably* each new one as it comes up, that'll keep you from getting doxxed on *search engines* at least, but if you want to stop it at the source you'll need to fill out some state-specific paperwork explaining why you deserve privacy. Or you could just not register to vote, because that's not bad incentives at all.

(Personally, I have decided not to go for an opt-out, on the grounds that the address at which I am registered to vote in U.S. elections is (perfectly legally) *not* the address at which I live. But I thought those of y'all who have *not* gotten the fuck out of the States ought to be warned.)
