Ooh, this has given me the thought that my distantly-post-apocalyptic high-fantasy setting that I've been writing *should* actually have any salvaged plastics in it; it's been millenia since [civilizations that could do plastic] were a thing and fantasy settings are not big on the hydrocarbons because the underground is doing about six billion things but people are good about protecting the relics of the former age and maybe one of the [elf cities that has rare still-functional factories] has something making it and quite frankly there are places where the archeology is deep enough that "mining" could still be turning up plastics.
