1. I think I did hear a while back that they'd been planning yesterday's emergency-alert test for some time and the date had long since been fixed, but *in the middle of figuring out whether or not Russia bombed NATO* (it's looking like they didn't, BTW) is an incredibly awkward time to issue a test alert.
2. I...didn't notice...that the alert had been issued...for quite some time. Which is a bit concerning, even given the fact that as soon as *any* household member notices a true alert it would quickly become clear to the others. I think, in times like these, I had better be more careful about timely phone decontamination, rather than leaving it in the travel pouch in the hallway for a while and relying on notification sync.
(I *am* also signed up for Alert Waterloo Region emails, and I should *hope* that they would email me in the event of an incoming nuke, and furthermore I should hope that they would be smart enough to send an alert even if the nuke in question is heading for Detroit and will only give us a glancing blow. Don't know that I'd want to bet on it, though.)
