[cw: illness, (arguably) amnesia]

Two weeks ago, my brother and I received our second doses. As of today, my household is fully vaccinated.

I wore my respirator to the grocery store today anyway. Because I can; because Delta is some nasty shit; because I've been enjoying the lack of rhinoviruses in my life for the past...I don't even know how long it's been since my last cold, but I know I didn't have any in 2020.

(*pokes logs* I definitely had a cold in July 2018, and this June 2019 post implies that there was another one between those two time periods. It's possible there haven't been any since early 2019 or so; it's also possible that there was one that left records only in Dad's SMS logs (from texting Meta-Boss about sick leave), which I don't have access to. I'm glad I've started a health log: should help avoid these sorts of problems in the future.)

I was wavering for a bit on whether to drop to a cloth mask now or wait a while first: the exact moment I made my decision was on the evening of July 25th, when I served a coughing customer.

We're starting to catch up on all the things we've been putting off. Tomorrow Mom is going to go replace her outdated eyeglasses, and then we're going to a camping store to try on bug-out bags. (Our current packs are essentially school bags and, while better than nothing, are not really cut out for this.) The day after that I have an appointment (...which turned out to be virtual and not really needing to be put off, but anyway) with my doctor to discuss my immune system. A couple weeks from now we have the first of several visits from people affiliated with various subsidised-energy-efficiency-renovation programs. We're also trying to arrange some dentures for Dad soon, as his teeth are barely functional.

(...come to think of it, maybe I should schedule a dental checkup myself. I was hoping to get dental coverage through a job soon, but it's been over three months and I've only even made it as far as a first-stage interview once. Plus I've heard dental plans often take several months to kick in. Maybe I should just accept that there'll be one more out-of-pocket one, like I did with my vision checkup last month. (My eyes are fine, BTW.))
