[cw: injury, blood]

Chewed a little too hard on my lip this morning and had it hit me that it's probably not going to occur to new generations of Canadians to compare the taste of blood to the taste of pennies.

Is there anything similar that children are still in a position to lick? Or is blood an indescribable singleton of a flavour now, with no point of comparison, like how amaranth is?

Hmm. Keys? They're apparently usually made of brass, though, how much of a difference... nope, that doesn't taste like blood to me.

Oh don't worry, we do fine here knowing what pennies taste like by comparing them to the taste of blood.
