Have I mentioned lately I love being able to shut off my sense of smell?

[cw: unsanitary, food]

Oh, I have? Well, let me say it again, because *this* just happened:

Me: Honestly, I get that Mom didn't eat the carrots from her Chinese food because they're too high-carb, and I get that nobody else was around to offer them to at the time she finished the container, but she could have at least *composted* them. Guess I'll have to do that myself before I put the containers in to soak.

Me: *opens container*

Me: *gags*

Me: Respirator! *Now*!

I was then able to compost the rotting carrots, soak the containers with soap, and wash my hands thoroughly, all behind the safety of my PPE. *God* I love this thing.

(Note: I recently swapped out the filters, after four months, because the nuisance-vapour filtration seemed to be wearing out. Everything was still airtight, and *most* scents were still blocked, but every so often (most notably in the walk-in fridge at work) I would encounter some particular scent that got through. I've kept the first pair of filters in case this pair gets damaged, since I expect the first pair is still pathogen-proof and that's very often enough. But, as we just saw, not *always* enough.)
