The stuff the Internet Archive was saying in their last fundraising drive about the importance of non-malleable history is so fucking true.

Do the people calling for Trump's entire Twitter account to be deleted not realise how much damage has been done by even *partially* censoring him? Left-wing news outlets going "don't believe the stuff about false flags, the mob did this because Trump told them to, here are our sources for Trump telling them to *none of which exist*" is *not* a good look.

(I eventually managed to at least dig up an actual copy of the Twitter video in which Trump technically tells them to go home but spends most of the video reassuring them that they're right. Guess where I found it.)

That does indeed sound like a pile of bullshit waiting to happen and like I'm just sitting here and remembering that tweets are citable now, and how that's not stupid because our public lives are such that citing tweets is often useful but also how transient and deletable that makes stuff.

Well, at least it's not a hundred years ago when we would be 100% dependent on "people writing down what he said accurately and then being believed"
