Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink

[cw: illness, thirst]

that sinking feeling when you start getting thirsty and it dawns on you that it's going to be at *least* four hours until you can take off your mask and get some water

also, that your schedule includes such things as:

  • Washing a bunch of dishes

  • Mopping some floors

  • Handling delicious juicy vegetables

  • and oh yeah, fucking *showering*

*before* the part where you actually get to drink anything.

---

There were some delays, so it turned out to be more like five hours. It's 5.5 hours later, and I'm now decontaminated and have downed most of a litre of water (not *quite* all at once: one time I nauseated myself doing that, so I know better now).

---

(Okay, yes, strictly speaking I *could* have arranged for some drinking water sooner if I were desperate enough. But in the war between thirst and [the desire not to deal with attempting to arrange a safe drink while only partially decontaminated], the latter won.)
