The 33-year-old sticker next to the furnace (which I've mentioned on several occasions over the years) was in reference to a major ductwork repair, not a furnace replacement. The furnace itself is 24: still very old, but not quite as staggeringly old.

The choice between citrus-flavoured Life Extension zinc lozenges and peppermint-flavoured Life Extension zinc lozenges is not arbitrary: the differences between the two ingredient lists are substantial, and it's *specifically* the peppermint ones that fit the bill. (iHerb carries those also (at a higher price), though I am not at all convinced they're worth it.)

The snow did not stick, and I think the leaf mold or something reactivated when temperatures rose again: we soon returned to "masking outdoors to filter out the allergens" season. It has not been a white Christmas, and I would not like my odds trying to go out maskless right now.

Brother was conspicuously silent on the matter for the first several days that he seemed suspiciously ill, then reported "cold" for a few days, but is now saying that upon reflection his symptoms seem more congruent with an ILI. *He* thinks it's influenza, because he's placing way too much trust in one (1) negative rapid-antigen test that I bet he didn't even swab his throat for, but statistically it's probably COVID. (Especially since he's up-to-date on his flu shots but *not* his COVID shots.)
