Stupid cashier tricks
I can distinguish an American quarter/dime hiding in a stack of Canadian quarters/dimes by looking at the stack *edge-on*.
Canadian quarters and dimes have a silver-coloured edge, while American ones have a copperiness to them.
(American nickel edges are silver-coloured (well, nickel-coloured, I guess), so it doesn't work for those.)
